Spring Break!

March 28th, 2014 akolso17

Hello everyone!

Sorry I haven’t posted in a while! My time has been consumed with a 20 page research paper for my Montserrat. If you want to know something about fish farms and the environment – I’m your girl!

For Spring Break I went on a Spiritual Exercises retreat. The Holy Cross Chaplain’s Office offers several wonderful retreats. In September I went on the 1st Year Student Retreat (A wonderful 24 hour get-to-know other 1st year students and reflect on the transition to college) and over spring break I joined 14 other Holy Cross students on the Spiritual Exercises retreat. It takes place several times throughout the year in Weston, MA. Spiritual Exercises is a 5 day silent retreat based on the life of Christ. I was a little nervous at first, but it was surprisingly nice to spend time in silent contemplation. Sometimes we need to postpone the unending To-Do list and simply listen to what God has to say. I definitely plan on making this retreat at least once more while I’m on the hill.

Of course there are plenty of other ways to spend Spring Break! Spring Break Immersion is a very popular program on campus. I have friends who went to Alabama, Virginia, and Colorado. All who participated in the program formed close friendships with their groups and learned so much about the various communities they lived in. They also gained leadership and practical skills.

A couple of my friends decided to participate in a free business networking workshop that lasted a week. My friends who participated won $100 and made direct contacts with CEOs from various companies. They also gained valuable networking and presentation skills.

Well, it’s time to get back to that paper. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Ali
